Cleaning out the house - stuff for sale

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by mopacfan, Jul 19, 2005.

I posted a while back about my significant other, Wendy, taking her life back in April. I'm finally starting to get things cleaned out and gone through. To that end, I'm putting up a bunch of stuff for sale to get rid of as much stuff as I can so that when I sell the house, I won't have so much crap to move. Anyway, I've put up a new site to "advertise" everything as I get it ready to sell.

Right now I have an '03 Ford Focus w/ only 11,037 miles, my hotwheels collection, a bunch of CD's and some other stuff online. I've got a lot more to clear out as well. The info is up at http://www.mopacfan.com.

Thanks again for everyone's thoughts and kind words.

You know, I saw the St. Louis in the past for your location. I saw the train, but never put Missouri Pacific together.

"Mopac is the abbreviation for Missouri Pacific Railroad. I grew up in Glendale, MO and was privileged to live near the Mopac tracks that ran through Kirkwood. As a boy, I always loved watching the Jenks Blue locomotives rolling through town and running over the Carondolet Subdivision. Only the mainline is still active under the Union Pacific, but the memories will last forever."

I'm from Webster Groves originally! Loved Kirkwood to death and played on the tracks all the time. My favorite places around the area was the Amtrak station in Kirkwood, and the old station on Big Bend in Webster... Both still there after all these years, of course the station in Kirkwood is the only one I know that is still functioning as a station.

Sorry to hear about your partner. Good luck on the sale! I was just in St. Louis a few weeks ago. Took my son to the Zoo on the way down to Mountain Grove, MO. We stopped at Doc's Harley in Kirkwood as well... Ah memories... I swear the building across the street from Docs used to be a Burger Chef. Man I miss Burger Chef and Jeff!

I was always a big MP and UP fan. Hell I have a layout in my home in Wisconsin that is modeled after parts of Rockford Il, and Kirkword. I run UP and MP on the mainlines.

    Take care!

You're not going crazy, it did used to be a Burger Chef... man, that when things were great. Did you know that the only actual location where they can verify a train robbery by Jesse James was on the Missouri Pacific RR in Glendale between Sappington and Barry roads (in that general area) I'd love to see shots of your layout. I may get around to building one again someday. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Damn, I knew it!!!! If you ever go by there can you get me a picture? I took shots of Doc's, but for some reason did not take a pic of the BC. Damn. Well I will probably be down there in August. I have friend getting married for the 3rd time I think. Doc's: http://home.mia.net/~jeremy/vrod/6-17-05/

Yes, I did know that about Jesse James. It is hard to find anyone else that knows that!

I had an issue with my personal web site were I deleted the backup and the site. I have all the files backed up somewhere else, but as of yet have not restored them all, so it is out of date. However, here is the link to the pics I do have of the layout over the last couple years: http://jeremyandkelly.com/morepics/index.html

Just scroll down to HO Railroad Layout.

Good to see people sharing some memories.

All the best to you, Mopacfan. I've put some bids on a few of your CDs.
