    Hehe - Gotta love it...

Unfortunatley it works both ways - it's easy to price my services out of the reach of the US market

Okay, though can somebody teach me how to sell a website. I've never done it. lol, I'll put it back up, may take a while, a hard drive with the files on it crashed and is destroyed. I did plan on making another forum host under a different name, but if I can't I'll redesign it and put it back up. I didn't do too much with advertising though. I do have hundreds of users off the little marketing I did so if you add ads and things to the forums you may make some money. I'll also see how the bidding goes.

Also, the website is hosted on SimpleHost.com which is doing pretty good for it right now.

    ^ he didn't bid $200 :)

Easiest way to see it, is to just give the information.

    Number of hits/people
    Indexed pages in Google/MSN/Yahoo etc
    number of back links.

If people want to know much more get them to ask/pm you? (basic idea anyway :) )

lol, yes, it wouldn't be worth that. I don't think, it had been neglected recently for some new projects and for work so I haven't realy had enough time to get it making good money. Question again though, how do you sell a website. Is it just giving them the password and things like that.

I've only ever bought 1 site never sold 1, but the person I bought the site off had it on free hosting which he just give me the username/password so I could log in, then I could get a copy of the site and able to upload it else where, so I guess it could depend on where it's hosted, but you need to give them access to where the site is hosted for them to take a copy really.

Yeah, just give them cpanel access so they can get their own backup.

First thing you should do after payment is push the domain, that shows that you are willing to complete the deal and not just run away with their money

Push is when you transfer the domain to the new owner. Let me know when you sell it and I'll pass you the link that explains how to do it. Very easy to do.

I would also recommend changing the passwords you use to something that you will never use before you sell the site. It may take a little work if you have db passwords set up but it's well worth the work of not giving anyone a clue as to the types of passwords you may use on your db cpanel and more.

If you have it on paid hosting I would be Leary in just giving them the passwords and hoping they switch the billing over to them. also be careful depending what host you use, there may be a lot of personal information on your host you do not want to share.

I would rather pack it all up and zip it, transfer the domain name and allow them to download the site files from a page you set up. Then you can either close that host account once transfered or put up a new domain.

Thanks for the bid Shoemoney, and thanks for the information everyone. I'll be sure to contact you Fryman. I'm going to put the website back up right now. Tomorrow night I'll end the bidding, the website is being put back up right now, and I accept paypal payments.

I've learned a major lesson from this, never just close a website because some people will be willing to pay for it.

For some reason the forum installation script is having an internal server error. I'm working on fixing that.

It'd be hard to tell the value of it since each forum gets different amounts of visits. The stats I have are to the main page and it doesn't get that many. Remember, I had neglected this website due to being realy busy with new projects and work. It was my first website that I had actualy payed for.

Generally I get 500 to 700 hits a day, since it's a forum host it gets a lot of repeat visitors.
