CMS for a photo gallery

I have a site that is going to be focused around photos. My site will feature articles, a store (using associate o matic amazon store and ebay store)but I need a CMS to have users be able to login, upload photos and have them displayed in a giant gallery and on their own user account.

Is there a CMS that does this, or am I thinking to advanced for a open source CMS? I don't like wordpress for this, but I have not looked at joomla or drupal

Coppermine could probably handle this, though I dont know about the store end and content end of that. Coppermine will allow user registration and allow members to have their own galleries.

Joomla could handle the store end of things and the content, and there is a bridge for Joomla / Coppermine which would allow the same user base between the two. That's how I would do that setup.

I'm fairly certain that there is a addon for Joomla that interfaces with the Coppermine db.

Ya, i was playing with joomla and drupal and both seem to work out well. I did a search and started reading about the choices, but alot of the ops didn't respond back to see if it worked well with them :D

I will tkae a look at coopermine and report back on my results. Thanks xxkillswitch and thatedeguy

No problem. Im sure you will find something between those two. The Joomla bridge is done by Medhi ...

I havent used Drupal, so I cant really speak on that, but they also have alot of community support.

I would suggest using Wordpress and a photoblog theme. With Wordpress you can have loads of plugins providing you functionality of a separate gallery and any features for allowing users uploading photos,etc....

"I don't like wordpress for this"

I really don't know the reason why you don't like Wordpress and really having the right tools for your work will surely do.... please do tell and I can send you some tools if you want :)

All those applications suggested above are wonderful, but a bit heavy for my taste.
My photo website (signature) runs Drupal + Acidfree (Drupal Module for Photos).
It gets the job done and has some nice features, plus its very simple to set up.

Right now I have zoom gallery but I am not liking it. I am having problems uploading photos. I have photos that are 2-8mb because I shoot them using a Digial Rebel xTi, and I am restricted in file size. I tried changing the size limit in the settings but still nothing.

I also tried to ftp the photos in annd that worked, but they don't display in the gallery.

I am also having problems with SEO, something about hostgator not supporting the module

I think your problems might be related to php.
Try changing php.ini to allow for larger file sizes.
SEO wise, Drupal+Acidfree is hard to beat.

Ya I tired when I was talking to you. It seems that I don't have a php.ini or I am not looking in the right location.

If you are purely using it for photo gallery, go for 'gallery 2' or coopermine .
