    Hey guys,
Can someone point me in the right direction for the best CMS for a press release site? I have looked around and can't seem to figure out what the top news/press release site are using for the backend cms.

    Thanks,
    RD

The "top" sites are often using custom back-ends. But you can run one using something as simple as Wordpress with the right plugins.

Most of the top sites use special custom-coded CMS scripts, or highly modifided versions of them. I believe IGN uses Joomla (or some other really popular gaming-related site)?

Either way, i believe Joomla would be the way to go. Wordpress would be fine too, but you have to be careful with which plugins you do choose.

Check also Drupal (drupal.org). There is no out of the box solution but you can do a lot with the CCK (Content Creation Kit) and the Views Module. There are plenty of modules that can ease the creation of a site. You can start very small and expand your site very easy if you get the Skills. The Community is also very helpful.

I have a similar site and Wordpress works fine for me. You just have to choose the right plugins.
