What are the best free content management systems out there? I am looking for something I can set up for a relative, is SEO friendly and works well with adsense, etc.

PHP or ASP would be great.

    Thanks!

There are hundreds of CMS systems out there so to give any concrete recommendation other than "I've used xyz and like it" I would need to know a little more about the features you wish to implement.

You might start by taking a look at the long list of CMS systems over at CMS Matrix. There you can search their database CMS systems by a wide variety of criteria.

That site had poor results! Look for $0 and get back $5,000 solutions.

I'm looking for something a user with XP could manage, no root access and easy for them to upload articles.

    Thanks.

I have had good experience with both Geeklog (check out www.funnystory.cc) and with Xoops (check out www.comicbookmovies.info), both are easy to learn and use. I give the advantage to Xoops because it has a larger community which means more add-on's and more active message boards for help.

    good luck

I tried 4-5 and my favourite so far is Drupal.

For just uploading articles and to make it as simple as possible, I would suggest considering a blog.

Other CMS are far more complicated and usually include a blog. Apparently you need just that.

Drupal is the best for developers. This source code is very very clever!
But I prefer Mambo with xaneon-extension.
