Complaints about Spoofed Email Address.

    Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to get a conscientious about this strange set of events in my life. I received a complaint from an email about 'unsubscribe' them from my site. It was late, and I was confused. The site he/she referenced had no subscribers. I get up this morning, I received another complaint about the 'legality' of the products I offered in an email from my site(same site as referenced in first complaint letter), and how I was being 'turned-in'.

Now I've verified that I've not sent any letters, it is a non-email generating site, and updated the password, just in case. The Band Width for this month is low, and in line with http traffic. I'm positive these spam emails aren't coming from me, and am positive if I get a hold of one, in the headers I can verify this.

Now the question part, should I take the time and try to educate those who don't verify information before they fly off the handle, or should I just not care? I mean, in the past when I ever complained about an email to my ISP, they requested full headers, and THEY explained how return addresses and repy-to's are set by the sender, and aren't reliable.

So Educate them? OR Ignore Them?

    thx,

    tom

P.S. Hope this in the right section. ;)

Usually this is the case. And usually it is a generic form. Most of the times, the people who are complaining do not understand too much or do not understand how spoofed emails work.

I usually send out a generic form to people since I have a few domain names that have been out for a very long time and get spammed like that.
