Confused About Using Firefox.

Hello Everyone!!!

I am very confused about using firefox or not?

How does it effect your SEO Work and normal browsing?

Please if Mr. Minstrel and other gurus of SEO can recommend me something.

I shall be very gratefull and thankfull.

 

I make sure my sites render in both IE and FF. It's worth the effort to me.

 

You don't any SEO guru or the like for this.

Go and give firefox a try, but please more than a few minutes. Use it for a week or two and you'll see by yuorself.

On the other hand: you must make sure that, no matter what you use to browse the web, your site works in all the major one. A only IE website is bad for your visitors, who will leave nearly at the moment. And this is bad for SEM, for sure.

 

i use FF at first i hated it and now i can live without it

FF follows HTML standard coding, so if it display well it firefox u can be sure (well 95%) that your design & coding follows html standard.

The are also many extentions for FF which add many extra features to FF and let you do different things with a click of a button.

 

Firefox doesn't have anything to do with SEO. It's just a browser such as all the other browsers out there (although it's a pretty darn good one!). You definitely have to make sure that your websites look good in both Firefox and IE (chances are that if it's good in Firefox it will be in IE too, unless you use various hacks or funny stuff).

SEO depends on how you promote your site (links) and keywords in your pages. Using one browser over another won't affect that.

 

What Crusader said. The browser in and of itself doesn't affect SEO (unless you're running certain SEO extensions e.g. the Google toolbar on one browser and not the other).

The only potential SEO advantage that could be gained from using both browsers is that, if your site looks at least close to the same in FF and IE, your code is probably sound and therefore you're usually assured that an SE spider will be able to crawl and index it correctly as well. That's not an etched-in-stone fact, however; it's a general rule of thumb based on experience and observation.

 

well Mr. Minstrel is not here (check in DMOZ - child porn thread ) so I am replying on his bahalf..

Go for Firefox..though IE7 Beta is not bad but I will still recommend firefox because you can install lot's of extensions i.e. plugins which adds into firefox's functionality. At the start you may find awkward but you will get used to it in few days.

 

Firefox will affect nothing, except give you faster, safer surfing....

Make sure you get the *Adblock* extension and the *Tabbrowser* one if you want no popups and lots of sites open at once...

I love firefox and as was already said, make sue you get certian addones like fasterfox, adblock, tabbrowsing and the rankquest toolbar.

 

yes the extensions make all the difference. (well not ALL the difference, at least its not microsh*t software)

 

FF all the way. I love the SEO plugins + auto form filler that helps me with directory submissions etc

 

I am using FF and it works well here. For faster and safer internet processes, I rely on it.

 

I absolutly hate FF. Must be one of the only people that does around here however I always make sure sites I do work in IE, FF and Safari on Macs...

Pretty hard to get that all working perfectly but the effort is well worth it, better browsing for all users...

this is very true, the browser you choose has nothing to do with the SEO of your site but some of the addons FF provides can be very very useful in doing SEO work.

 

Thankyou all for all your precious comments and advice but actually what i want to ask is that how does firefox or IE speed up or slow down your SEO work and normal browsing.

Well Firefox has some very need extensions that help quite a bit with SEO efforts. The Google Toolbar with the PageRank checker is very handy (but you can get that for IE too).

Also, tabbed browsing is a must. Speeds things up considerably seeing as you can more or less multitask easier.

The question(s?) is alreadsy answered I think, although I'm a bit confused about what it was originally:

1. you should do your best to ensure that your page displays reasonably well in all major modern browsers

2. which browser you and/or your visitors use does not affect SEO or search engine rankings for your site

3. I personally don't like Firefox and don't think it is "safer" - indeed, I've made the point that the hype claiming it is safer actually makes it less safe because some people think that means they don't have to worry about updates or take normal safe-surfing precautions - that said, I'm aware that some people (including one of my sons) love the damn thing and that's what freedom of choice is all about

4. I don't think tabbed browsing offers me any advantages - I already have that in my task bar using XP
