Considering Outsourcing with verticity.com - Advice anyone?

We've been using some freelancers from different websites off and on for several years and have used programmers from India in the past with mixed results. We have a regular programming team in India, but unfortunately they take on too many projects and they can't seem to meet deadlines... often missing them by a month or two.

I was exploring the option of hiring a full-time offshore programmer for some PHP/MySQL/Smarty work for 6-12 weeks, maybe more, and found verticity.com.

verticity.com provides an office for the programmer and a local supervisor. (I think most of their programmers are in Pakistan). They're also supervised by a manager in NYC and the company has some impressive press coverage, including mentions in PC Magazine.

The programmer would be "working for us", and us only, 45 hours per week, and we could login to a managment interface and view a live shot of their workstation display anytime we'd like, as well as speak via 800 number to our programmer whenever we'd like. They also provide resumes from available programmers.

Has anyone gone this route, and what is your experience with such a process? The idea of the programmer being given some "adult supervision" is appealing to us, and this sounds like it might be a nice fit for a small company like ours that isn't ready for a full-time programmer, yet has outgrown freelancers.

How do the progammers from Pakistan perform?

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
