    My site is http://www.ihavetalents.com

THis site is about singers and bands where users add their own videos, mp3s, events (content)...

But when visitors come to my site and see no content on my site the won't stay and register.

Problem is that my site is kind of "user making content".
What should I do about that content?

Okay, so your site in effect is a social site or uses a social script of some sorts. At first glance I almost thought your site was based on wordpress. It had that feel about it. Your design is really important when catering to musicians and bands. Plus they don't see anything worthwhile on why they should stay on your site as opposed to being on MySpace or Facebook or any big social networking site you can think of.

Your best bet in this case is to get some content up. How do you do that?

By interviewing people in the music industry that has made it big or that contribute to scholarships or anything related to music. People love reading interviews about people that are important in the music industry. Your header could look much better and your site design is too dark. You need to have some lighter areas and darker areas that blend beautifully to give you that feel that this site is all about bands and musicians.

Maybe cater to some specific category within the music scene like rock/punk or metal or New Age.

If you are going to be a general site you need to offer bands some incentive to to upload their music to your site. After all there are tons of big sites you are competing with.

If I were you, I would start a newsletter offering tips for musicians and then approach some people to do interviews, have it up on your site and then get someone to redesign your site better. Get some nice color into there and then finally approach other websites related to your music niche or site and ask if they would be interested in subscribing to your newsletter or even better..help collaborate a newsletter so that all these sites have something of interest to give to their members each month. As part of it, you can offer advertising and offer them the means to advertise and make money themselves. People don't balk at getting money.
