Converting a static site to wordpress.

I have purchased an existing static site. It has more than 300 pages. I would like to convert this static site into a wordpress site.

This isnt the hardest of tasks. But what to do about the urls for the static site? Do I craft some special permalink code for wordpress so they look the same, or 301 all the old pages to the new ones?

Every single page on the site is indexed already, and most rank well. So I dont want to lose that.

If I am going to go with wordpress, the site currently looks like this:

    http://www.site.com/some_directory/some-file-name.html

How would I convert that properly into wordpress?
