how can this be accomplished? I'd like to back up a directory myself, and not the parsed files, but the scripts and everything as I see it in cpanel.

BTW: Sillly question and unsure where to post so i put it here.

If you do it within cpanel; you'd go to the backup utility; but you'd have to backup your whole directory; not just a selected directory. Usually under Tools/backup; yours may differ depending on your skin and version.

Alternatively; you can ftp into your site and download files individually; or a selected folder.

You can even use your browser:

    ftp://userid:password@yourdomainname.com

<edit> ok; lemme spread this out:

    ftp://userid : password @ yourdomainname.com
