Makes me proud to have played a supporting role in all of this. As the curve flattens and eventually disappears, we will all know the true reason. Then, we can get back to our normal lives of demonic mind control, alien abductions, etc.

I find these stats rather odd. Mexico has a population of 130 million, they have not shut down their economy. Nor are they practicing social isolation of any sort what so ever. Yet as of yesterday they have reported only 993 cases and 20 deaths.
The president of Mexico said that fewer Mexicans would die from the Corona virus than will die from starvation, would he to destroy the economy. Mexico has no plans to make any changes, I sincerely wish them all the best.

at least the coronavirus is a ratings hit, right?

as for believing their stats, I'd say they're no more reliable than those given by any other country. Italy has shown that theirs aren't right, the UK are underreported, Australia is a hot mess, NZ isn't testing much.

In the meantime I'm seeing many posts like this in facebook from dickwad Americans who won't give a damn if they've spread it far and wide during that 2 weeks.

Apparently, the "dickwad" situation applies to New Zealand, too:

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/03/coronavirus-when-might-the-army-be-called-in-to-enforce-social-distancing.html

    Excerpt:

"Since the pandemic alert level 4 lockdown came into force on Thursday, there have been reports of Kiwis ignoring instructions not to socialise with people outside of their immediate household.

People have taken to social media to report groups of families at public playgrounds, whose plastic and metal surfaces can harbour the SARS-CoV-2 virus for days at a time. One Twitter user said their neighbour threw a BBQ and four carloads of people showed up, so they decided to invite the police as well."

Just goes to show that every country has their share of jerks. Of course, the larger a country's population, the more jerks you will find just based on per capita percentages alone. It is amusing when small, isolated, homogenous countries believe that they are somehow doing things better than other, larger and more diverse countries are doing.

The house across the street from me is Hispanic occupied. Back when they first bought it (20 or so years) there were 3 or 4 families living there. I never really did determine the exact count. It's been single family for some years now.

Over the weekend their driveway was overfilled with vehicles. I never saw any of them doing anything out front so they stayed either inside or in the back yard.

I guess they're paying more attention to the Mexican President than the American President.

As far as I'm concerned Mexico is a good test case for what can happen if a country takes no action at all in regards to the Corona virus. I suspect that testing is not happening there on a large organized scale.
Again I wish them all the best, and hope that they are not headed for a biological disaster.

My brother just texted me that his best friend's wife died (not from the virus.) Not sure what is going to happen with the wake/funeral, etc. I assume that it will be virtual to all but the immediate family? Stay tuned for more updates as I learn how this is handled these days.

I've heard that weddings are going virtual. Do you think that your brothers friend would sign on for that or simply go for a cremation with no ceremony?

This will be very interesting to see how it goes. Will it just be another flu season for them or will it turn into the apocalypse? If this is just another flu season, he will be seen as having seen through the fake news hysteria and protected his country's already weak economy, of course. Obviously, that is what he is betting on.

Note that the president of Mexico, like many heads of state, are tinfoil hat customers of mine.

I have no idea. He will likely do what the funeral director tells him he can and can't do. My guess is that it will be virtual for all but immediate family, though even they could be prevented from physical viewing.

Rapid testing and isolation is the only solution. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a fool. I am from Pakistan and our prime minister(who happens to be Pakistani version of Trump) has said multiple times on screen that he is against lockdown because he thinks poor people will have nothing to eat. In my opinion a complete curfew was required to contain the spread but there is partial lockdown here. People are allowed to move around, just the markets/schools/colleges/businesses are closed. This is why the virus is spreading. We don't have enough testing kits so very few people are being tested which is the reason behind number of positive cases is low.
One thing is for sure that we will be staying home for a very long time. Locally spread cases are growing. People who have no travel history are getting infected. Our goverments are a joke.

Yes I saw the Mexican president wearing your Mexican tinfoil hat model. The tassels hanging off the tip of your sombrero hat is pure genius! I guess tinfoil can be shaped into almost anything.

If this is just mostly a nonlethal flu for 98.5% of infected people, which many signs point to now, then wise leaders will recognize that it is a mistake to implement a "cure" that will be worse than the flu. Of course, it will be very hard to measure how many people die from starvation, depression/suicide, addiction, and other poverty or economic-related reasons, but people will die, nonetheless.

I truly believe that here in the US, the Left, the Swamp, and the Fake News media know this all too well and that the hysteria they are fanning the flames of is going to result in more deaths than would otherwise happen if we treated this like any other flu season. They simply do not care because they so desperately crave getting back into political power. Oh, and because Trump Bad, too.

Here is an instagram post with the latest statistics for cause of deaths in 2020:

Does not follow the Fake News narrative of doom and gloom, so you are not likely to see this from them, if they are your only news source.

Up here where I am I know of quite a few people who have lost their incomes due to this social isolating. Yesterday the German minister of Economics committed suicide. I for one will be keeping an eye on Mexico to see how they fare. But we must remember that in poor countries like Mexico many people live day to day on their earnings, have no credit or savings. We ought not to be too smug and judge the Mexicans for their decision to not practice self isolation.

thats an interesting piece of legislation enacted by the president although amidst intense pressure from Andy Cuomo NY Governor. Would be nice to know the full extent of the act and whether the president can for instance order KFC for instance to start producing ventilators!

The law (that was enacted under the Truman administration to support the Korean War and replaced an earlier one that was used during WWII) is very broad. E.g., Truman used it to cap wages and impose price controls on the steel industry and Clinton used it during his administration to order suppliers to sell natural gas to the state of California at way below market prices to prop up energy companies that were financially struggling. FEMA uses it all of the time when there is natural disaster to make sure that they get food, bottled water and other such supplies first and the DoD uses it routinely to ensure that its needs are handled first within any manufacturing supply chain.

A lot of people are shocked when they get a small peak at the unbelievable power that governments actually have. Always keep this in mind: your government, no matter its politics and form of government, can take away all or any of your freedom by locking you up and, in fact, they can kill you. And, of course, they can do anything else they want to, including confiscating all of your property. They have to do all of these things by the rulebook, but they write the rulebook, too.

I can, however, sell you an Anti-Government Oppression & Mind Control Tinfoil Hat that has been receiving rave reviews around the world.
