    The two square banners at the top. I have thought about doing the same with two side-by-side at the top of my content section, but have yet to try.

    How were you doing before this placement?

    Saying $200 per month doesn't mean anything at all, seriously. We don't know the CTR you get.
    But for sure yes, having two big blocks at the top increases CTR.
    In your case, you're in violation of AdSense's TOS on your blogspots because the one on the right is cropped and the ads by google is hidden.
    But with a good implementation you can get good results with this ad placement.
