Creating a myspace.com account for a website?

    Hi,
I had heard somewhere that more and more web developers were creating myspace accounts for their website's to get a few extra hits... then maybe using the account to post in forums or something??

But my question is, would myspace consider this spam? They seem to be cracking down on certain things lately...

They won't consider it as spam. You can create accounts for other promotions as well.

What is your site's niche? As this method doesn't work well for all types of sites..

Spam to Myspace is serious spam and people doing it have automated programs.

Depending on your niche it could be great or of little value.

Just on the whole spam thing - it depends on how you use the account. Obviously if you send out 2-3 bulletins a day telling your friends to check out xyz website they'll be suspicious, so you really have to be careful.

If your site is not related to Myspace then maybe not...But if it is targeted to teens...then why not use Myspace...

Defnately start a MySpace account and design a hot page.

MySpace has been very agressive with spammers and ha done a great job weeding out the scum making real networking on MySpace much more viable and attractive.

Keep in mind that quality is better than quantity.

I think you should be fine as long as you don't use it in a spamy way.
