Creating fonts

Im wanting to start making my own fonts..... where do I start? From what I've read I need some specific font software..... I've got CS4, and really can't afford another expensive art program..... what are my options?

Hope it is helpful, and search Google for tutorials, i guess you will find plenty of them.

 

You can draw an image in the Photoshop and then use some program to convert it into the symbol.

I found a cool program... Scanahand from high-logic.com
draw your fonts out freehand and then scan them in..... thanks to some of you for your input. I think PS5 needs to have a font creator built in..... lets write to adobe.

there are lots of font creation software out there trick is finding the right one for you. google it or check on snapfiles.com theres tons of free software and or paid software on there.

I believe a lot of people use Fontographer.

 

i found a program called scanahand.... pretty cool, you can draw your letters by hand, scan them in and you've got a brand new font.
