Ctrl+Shift+Arrow shortcut doesnt seem working anymore

Hey friends,

Need a quick help, if anyone knows about it. I am working on a huge project and it also involves the database in word and text format. However since yesterday my Ctrl+Shift+arrow shortcut seems not working. It was working fine till yesterday. But now it even doesnot work, when I am writing my emails.

Hope you know what this shortcut does, it selects a complete word at a time while going through a sentence, but not I have to select it by (shift+arrow) which is word by word, its really killing me, please help.

 

You can actually try a few different things.

1. Ensure Scroll Lock is turned off
2. Check Software installed around the time it stopped working, some programs may use this shortcut for something else. (i.e.
Monitor Software, Mouse Software, etc.) (p.s. If it is an app extension to Skype called Clownfish, go to Clownfish - Preferences - Hotkeys - and select "Disabled".)
3. Press both shift keys at the same time.

You are right, it must be some software which got downloaded by itself or got upgraded, because by scroll lock and pressing both shift keys together is not working. I checked for the software and uninstalled it. But even after restarting the computer, its still having the same issue.

 

Did you unplug and plug back in your keyboard cables? A corroded connection can cause all sorts of weird problems.

 

Sorry not to mention, I am using a Sony laptop, no desktop

 

Finally its gone and working well now. It was some kind of music software which was automatically downloaded in the background. It is really hard days, when simple things dont work at the right time, pisses me off.
