Cups of tea that go cold.

Since I have very little avenues to vent my grievances, I grace you with my most recent.

So you spend all that time brewing a cup of tea (well ok, pouring boiling water in to the cup and dunking the tea-bag rapidly in and out 30 times which takes all of 1 minute, but that's a lot of effort..), you take a sip, start a bit of work and before you know it, you've neglected it for 20 minutes and it's stone cold.

I do it every flippin' everytime.

    Thank the lord for microwaves,.

    Pete

What's with dunking the tea bag? I just let mine sit quietly for five to seven minutes (having a timer is important...cell phones work for this too), then I add my soy milk and sweetener (or not, depending on the type of tea) and I'm good to go. I always use a thermos mug with a lid so I can carry it around with me. Carrying it around helps with the forgetting part.

My sweetie uses a small thermos for his tea so he can take it to work on the train. This also works at home if you tend to forget your tea, it's still hot when you remember. The nice thing about thermos containers and mugs with lids is that it helps prevent laptop meltdown for those of us who are klutzs. It even works if you're drinking hot chocolate. ;)

If it's regular tea with a TON of sugar then I just drink it cold because it tastes like ice tea...

But then again I once licked a dog treat to see if it tasted meaty so don't listen to me.

Be careful not to superheat the water. Water doesn't always bubble in the microwave when it reaches the boiling point. It can actually get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it.
The rapid formation of bubbles is also seen when carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken.

So, do not heat your tea for more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for 30 seconds before moving it or adding anything (like a spoon) into it.

Yeah, part of the reason I don't drink tea is the effort involved compared to opening some water and drinking it straight. I mean, most of the time I can't be bothered to microwave a meal? Am I weird or sometimes do things get just too easy?

    Tea bagger!

Why do you jerk the teabag around?

Microwaves make tea taste like rust.

I don't know, tea just isn't a problem for me.

Yes, I take sugar in my tea.

I can't drink tea without it.

Well.. it releases and infuses with the water quicker, thus saving an extra trip back to the kitchen. It means I don't have to leave it brewing for 3 minutes and then also risk forgetting about it and ending up with a bitter mucky cuppa.

Agreed.. I try to avoid re-heating and only do it on occasion when I can't be bothered making another cup.

What beverages do cause you problems? :)

Coffee makes me visit the toilet for a number 2 after 10 minutes of taking a sip. It ain't no normal poop, either. It's sloppy and nasty but that's more information that people care to know I think!

Let it sit a few minutes and then push the bag against the cup with your spoon before you take it out.

I like 1/5 of the cup to be pure sugar! It's the only way to make tea. :)
