Did you ever feel the same?

    Hi folks,

I am beginning this thread to voice out even a little bit on what is going on inside me...:(

Many of us had a lot of take home lessons from this Covid19 situation - got closer to family, learned a few hobbies, learn the importance of sanitation and hygiene. But have we thought of how will we deal with anxiety - constant worrying of how will we survive this, on how long will we wear masks, and there is this unverified news that the Covid vaccine is only good for 4 to months so one would need to take shots every 6 months. How will our children and elderly cope up? All these things are running in my head all the time. And sometimes I get so grumpy and irritated.

I hate this situation.:( Did you ever feel the same? It tires me out...

I am 100% optimistic, here in Canada we have begun the vaccinations which last for a full year like a flu shot. In Canada mask wearing is now the law of the land. We will beat this and life will go on....never surrender!

I'm relatively fortunate to be in New Zealand but I've got a cold right now, so off I went to get tested - I'd hate to responsible for spreading covid especially after going to a concert at the weekend.

We still miss tourists, international students, and seasonal workers. We miss our opportunities to travel and are definitely anxious about the new obstacles for visiting family in need. What used to be a quick flight to Australia now comes with a 4 star, 2 week quarantine period.

It must be particularly hard for high school kids trying to study and prepare for an uncertain world. My son is at university and is lucky to be a top student in an "in demand" industry. I wouldn't want to be an arts student right now. My niece just had a baby, and what an odd time to become a new mum. We still have coffee groups etc but I'm sure they're scaled back from how they were before. One day kids will ask "what was big in the news when I was a baby?" For my daughter it's the death of Princess Diana, my son it was Y2K prep, and this year's babies: it's covid. Such a contrast.

So, yeah, I think we've all got an increased level of anxiety that must be even higher if you, or your loved ones, live in an area with community transmission.

My son was born six weeks after 9/11 occurred. I recall wondering what type of world we had brought him into. Now, his senior year in high school was basically destroyed by the lockdown. He and his classmates' childhoods have been framed by these two nasty events. Interestingly, and as opposed to his Millennial sister, I have noted that he and a lot of his peers lean strongly to conservative principles despite the unrelenting liberal propaganda and brainwashing in the schools. It will be interesting to see how this new generation moves forward in the world that has developed around them.

I wanted to thank you for the great advice. Indeed! We will never gonna surrender. We will fight to the end and I'll fight this anxiety of mine as well.

The word “thank you” will never be enough to express my gratitude for you all. Thank you for everything guys, it helps me feel better.

We all got the same worries for our kids. This time is such a struggle for families. I tried reading online articles about anxiety, stress, depression during this pandemic, looking for good advice or insights and I bumped into this page (https://www.who.int/campaigns/conne...PRmaJys6QOt1d3iFEsU7OXYg_Ly1BL4BoCBA8QAvD_BwE). I thought of sharing it with you too, it might give insights...somehow.

But I still fear and hesitant about getting the vaccine for my family....:(

One thing that people regularly forget about is perspective when it comes to Covid-19. Last I heard, 94%+ of infected people survive. 80% of infected individuals do not have any symptoms, whatsoever. And, less than 20% of the population is expected to even get infected. These numbers matter but get washed away in the relentless panic porn that we have been subjected to. I do note that said panic porn has been toned down significantly here in the U.S. now that the election is over. No surprise there. But, bottomline, worrying about the virus is not warranted or helpful.

I have never taken any flu vaccine for reasons that I have expressed on other threads. However, I may take this one, especially if it becomes important to get on planes or for other business situations. Otherwise, I will probably not take it, not because I worry about its safety, but for other reasons.

But do you think it is safe to have this vaccine since it was produced less than a year - well even if it is FDA approved.
So will it be mandatory for those who will travel on planes?

As I said in another thread my life has become easier (not a big people person, so you can understand). Social distancing has always been my motto. That's not to say that I am not worried. I am not worried for myself, I am worried for my daughter's future. Living in the United States of Insanity is not the same as it was 10-15-20 years ago. Ultimately, everything is in the loving hands of God and if we trust in His guidance and ask for His help He'll give us the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). I understand that not everyone is a Christian or even religious on here, but those of you who are can identify.

I got fat, weight 110kg, broke up with my girlfriend, lost friends and make new ones, had close people going sick, a couple of my father's friends died, beside the pandemic here in Spain we have the toughest economical crisis since the civil war and the fascist are fighting to get the power from the communists.

I feel bad for the old people that died alone without seeing their loved ones, for the medical personnel and for the rest of the infected, but the people was irresponsible and the authorities didn't act well and lied a lot about the numbers of deaths and infections.

I am happy that there are not falling bombs like in Syria or Iraq and other countries.

In Africa they have to walk around 8km for a bucket of drinking water every day or for the children stuck int that shameful refuge camp in Greece.

Don't know if you get my point?

I think that already hundreds of thousands of people have gotten it and we would have heard about any major problems. Beyond that, the reason why the vaccine came out so quickly is not because the trials were rushed; it was because Trump made the bold move to guarantee the payment for manufacturing 100 million doses once early testing showed promise. He got them manufacturing long before they normally would have.

It is an important point to remember that as bad as things may be going for you, someone else is having an even harder time.

I read a true story many times before ....... A lady was suffering from cancer and doctor said that you have hardly six month remaining to live ...... So she decided to help those people who is either suffering from any disease or who is looking for any types of help .... and she completely dedicated her remaining months for those people ....... She was enjoying his work and forgot about all other things.

After 8+ months when doctor saw that she is doing her regular work without any issue then he checked for her health again ...... and found that she is not suffering from cancer now ....... So i think many cases are due to our mind also. All types of vaccine or power can be created by our body because its created by God .. only we have to think positive.

My few friends were corona positive ..... and i don't remember really that how many times i meet them ...... I just followed few common things wear mask (Not in my friend home regularly) and think that i am (My immunity) ok to face this virus ....... I am not sure that this virus catch me or not but i am ok.

So in common we have to think positive ...... and nothing is impossible because very well structures which are created by God is operating all things in world ...... We need to respect all alive things in world and all things will be fine.

According to me COVID just a message for human that we need to manage our living style otherwise we need to ready to face many other and big pandemic than COVID.

I agree that the mind can affect one's health. However, I think that stories like this also provide strong evidence of how primitive our medicine still is. Just as we look back a couple of hundred years ago in horror at "doctors" using leeches to bleed George Washington to death while trying to save his life, the future will look back at us in the same way: "Imagine, they used to cut out body parts or burn the body with radiation to eliminate cancer! Can you believe how primitive they were back then?"

That is why it is so amusing to hear demagogues saying to "follow the science" or, even worse, "the science is settled!" Our science and medicine remain extremely primitive and are far from being settled, despite the gains that we pat ourselves on the back for.

Trump made an unprecedented move to guarantee the purchase of 100 million vaccines from multiple pharma manufacturers before any of them had gotten through testing and FDA approval (this program was known as Operation Warp Speed.) Normally, a pharma company will not start production manufacturing until they have achieved FDA approval due to the risk that the FDA might not approve it. By taking away that risk, Trump enabled these manufacturers to begin manufacturing while the testing and approval process was underway. This saved many months of time and is why there are hundreds of millions of vaccines now available or becoming available soon. This had never been done before and is a testament to Trump's ability to get things done, which is unheard of for a politician. E.g., if Beijing Biden were president in 2020, pharma would only now start ramping up production and we would not see any vaccines until late 2021 while he rambled on unintelligibly about wearing masks.

You reminded me of the time I was just slightly north of Hadrian's Wall in Scotland (was staying in the UK just slightly south) and I had a bowl of haggis that was laced with a whiskey-flavored sauce. I don't particularly like the taste of whiskey, but it worked well with the haggis.

Yes, exactly. There was a small software start-up there that we met with during our stay in the UK. We actually drove from Worthing (on the Southern border) all the way to Newcastle (it was a long drive broken up by a stay or two along the way.) The business relationship never panned out but got to see a lot of the countryside.
