Have any of you ever started a website that you ended up throwing away because you just weren't making any money or you lost interest in the subject?

    Multiple times,

Well not actually threw them away but temporarily gave up on them at least and let them sit on the shelf.

I usually try to recycle it some way. Not put much into it but slap up some material of some sort that relates to its previous incarnation, point links to sites I'm trying to promote, and forget about it. Of course selling it is always a good idea too!

I always sell it, or give it to another responsible person, in exchange I ask for permanent AdSense (my adsense) on the website.

I do that with many areas of life, but I prefer to think of it as letting the idea bake rather then giving up on them. I call it the oven!

I've got a few sites in the oven as we speak...

    I love it!

I advise my writing students to let ideas bake but why not apply the concept to other areas as well.

Have any of my oven sites made money? Well my current "oven" site has never been released, but it's a BIG idea that needs development before I can go public..I need to make sure I think of all possible problems and code them into the site ahead of time.
