Difference between index.php and root directory

    Hello,

    I've been running adsense on our site for a few months. Just a few days ago adsense started acting funny on the main page. It is not appearing on the root directory page, but it is showing on the index.php file (I thought they were both the same thing).

    Here's what is happening:

    
http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/ - [B]Public service ads/no ads[/B]

http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/index.php - [B]Relevant ads appear fine[/B]

    Obviously all links to the site (including Google results) go to the root directory.

    Here are the contents of the .htaccess (used to redirect an old error):
