Digg and stumbleupon best way to get traffic? No, nothing beats PPC and SEO for targeted traffic, but if its just junk traffic you want try traffic exchange sites.

It seems with Digg to get more than just a few visitors, you need to get quite a few diggs, and to do this you must first provide good content/article/image but you also must have a large network of other digg users. Most articles get very few diggs, but if you're in a network with other Digg members and everytime somebody in that network posts an article the other members Digg it, then it starts to move up the charts and becomes more visible to everyone else, which in return gets more diggs. I have gotten some small traffic from Digg, but nothing major. Does everyone else feel this is basically how Digg operates?

I've had no luck at all with Digg. The most Diggs an article of mine has ever gotten is three. Not worth the time and effort I reckon.

Digg and stumbleupon are social bookmarking(SB) sites. You can get good traffic from SB site easily. However, these traffic is not targeted. The traffic from SB comes fast and leave fast too. The better way to drive traffic, i mean unique and targeted traffic is to do SEOs.

What I do is just use them to bookmark and digg my blogs/articles. Then traffic sometimes comes in. I usually find that I get a spot in top pages of google for my keyword with digg. So you get instant traffic from that site and it also builds up backlinks and gets you another spot on google.

The social sites do generate traffic, but they tend to have a low conversion, so don't rely only on social sites for traffic.

If you give your title a interesting name, you get more visitors. The words 'amazing' and 'sensational' do seem to help. The newspapers have been doing this for years!

Focus on traffic that will convert to sales. Social traffic is not as targeted as PPC traffic.
