Digg should've sold when they got that huge offer put on the table - but hey they thought they'd ride it out and grow

Very low. I was an early adopter of Reddit, so this isn't that surprising to me. It's still sad, though. Digg used to be my favorite website!

I can't believe they sold at this price. Some people sell at just the right time, and others hang on for a bit to long.

today is the first time ive ever seen that website. To be honest, i cant see what all the fuss is about. Still, $500k for that many visitors, sheesh, if you ask me, i think they lost a bet or something.

Imagine that Digg was worth over $200 million USD a few years ago.

Lesson: Sell it while it's hot!

The cheap price that the whole setup was sold for was bizzare,i have to admit i have not used it in recent years but Digg was always the 1st port of call for promoting a new site as the search engines would pick it up within hours and give you a high quality links.I cannot see it continued in it current format i am certain they had been after the valuable and quality visitors and direct them to the new owners site/s.Its a great buy for the new owners but dire news for the big investors.

I don't understand why you would sell it for $500K if you still have a huge amount of traffic. If Digg would have avoid all the spam and did something against it, it would be worth way more then €500K....

That is incredible that Digg sold for only $500,000 and Google offered them $2,000,000 back in 2008. Timing is everything.

Ridiculously low for a business model that has proved it mettle.
