#4 was perfect, seems like if you want to make news it has to be something about that.
if you mention McCain and its not negative its back of the bus for you....

Other than those 5 items, write a good article and maybe (that's a big maybe) it will get there.

Even the funniest article is impossible to promote unless you spend 2-3 hours per day raising your "karma" on Digg. I've seen some extremely cool websites not being promoted to the front page just because some newbie submitted them. So I guess it's nearly impossible to promote anything of your own on Digg without spending time or money.

    digg is over-rated IMO
I have a small site that was banned a year ago, and I've sent a few emails asking why or if it'll ever be removed, and they just blow me off.

    what's customer service?

I would recommend you simply promote obama, bash palin, and give your kidney to ron paul and you will get on the front page no problem.

That's so true about politics with these social bookmarking sites. I'm pretty active on propeller.com and majority...if not all, of the popular topics are either Mccain, Palin, or Obama.

I did get a popular post once on propeller's front page which dealt with drinking coffee and weight loss. That was an interesting experience....lol.

I have not seen anywhere advertising something like that. Probably because digg would just ban them.

Make ALOT of Active friends. People who digg everything. Then shout out your article to them. It's kinda like spam so be carfull, if one of your friends burrys a story before it reaches the home page your luck as ended.

Any story can hit digg home page if you have strong networking and power to get digg on your story.

i think build a group people (digg users) so you can win their votes to your particular post, thus having a pretty good chance of making it on the front page.. a lot of labor though..

Any latest news can make it to the first page.. but the news should be fresh and it should also be unique. I used to get a lot of traffic from digg when Digg exchanges were allowed here.

Nobody mentioned to pay MrBabyMan? It seems pretty obvious he and other were and still probably are being paid to use the digg power.
