DNS Propagation for my new name server

    Hi,

I recently purchased VPS from an hosting provider with 2 public IP address. To have my own custom name server i have registered a domain with GoDaddy and pointed to my hosting account. Also i have added a glue record to my Godaddy account for my primary domain (ns1 and ns2 nameservers). I have done all these changes about a week back. But still now, the ns1 and ns2 nameservers are not completely propagated throughout world-wide i.e name servers propagated to only few countries (I have used www.whatsmydns.net to check DNS propagation).

Please help me to rectify this issue

Nameservers will take longer to propagate depending on ISPs

i have never seen it take more then 72 hours for this to take full effect. In fact, for brand new domain names, I find that it tends to be faster then 72 hours, 72hours is more the time needed for when modifying existing nameservers.

You will have to contact godaddy support.

    Hi matt,

Thanks for your reply, i will contact GoDaddy and let's see what they reply.

One more thing i have, while check DNS propagation the result varies from time to time i.e for the country which is already propagated (show by whatsmydns.net) shows an error message when i check after few hours. The only thing i will doing here checking through different service providers (home and office). Will this make any difference in result shown at whatsmydns.net.

Also please suggest me if there any reliable tool to check global DNS propagation. Thank you.

Hello, usually the DNS from the side of the registrar get propagated within 2-72 hours, but in some cases there are exceptions and in this case you will need to contact the registrar support.

Judging by the Godaddy user opinions at the following forum, their propagation time usually lasts 12-48 hours.

    Hello there,

If you have an error in your DNS zone, many ISP's will not cache/update records. What does http://intodns.com say about your domain name?

Another note, I plugged in a couple of domains into whatsmydns.net, and they showed errors as well, even though the domains have been active for a few years, so I do not know how reliable the results are.
