My pages get indexed in Google pretty quickly, do I still need a sitemap or shouldn't I bother?

Sitemaps are mainly to get pages indexed so if you are 100% indexed then you probably don't need to bother.

Having said that there are other features like search stats and the ability to tell google which pages are most important which are nice to have.

    Yeah, what mad4 said.

For sites that are fully indexed, less than 1k URLs I wouldn't bother with a sitemap file (but use the system, verify your site, check the stats, etc.).

For larger sites a sitemap file will help you get your new URLs updated in Google a bit faster.

If your site is not fully indexABLE then you need to fix that first. Sitemaps is not an ersatz for a clean website. Make sure your site is indexable, make sure you don't generate multiple URLs for the same content, etc.. Google Sitemaps does not make Google index your site, it's just a helper. You have to do all your normal work anyway :)
