Do you do any kind of social work or charity?

I am volunteering at child development agency.

 

Yes I do, once in a month, I work as a volunteer for one of UK's very popular charity. I do fund raising for them.

 

That’s great sir. How do you do the fund raising? I also want to contribute the agency by providing fund raising support.

 

Is this some kind of a new fad? A couple people I know (who happen to be successful business people) are all into getting involved with charities. I also keep reading how business people are getting involved in droves in charities throughout the world. It's as if someone gave them all an order: "GET INVOLVED NOW!"

Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for helping out and being part of the community. But what I teach my step kids is this: "It's ok to give money or volunteer at a church or charity, but don't forget, that maybe down the street there's an elderly lady who needs help with cleaning her house. Or across the road there's a single mother of 4, who lives off food stamps. Those are the people we need to help first and foremost."

Do you guys agree or disagree with me? It seems like it's easy to help a thousand people a little than one person a lot.

 

My high school actually made us do 40 hours of community service before we graduated. Mostly picking up trash around town and soup kitchens.

 

That’s great. Actually I am also a professional social worker having degree in Master of Social Work. I am associated with various NGOs especially based on the child development.

 

I volunteer as part of a community bicycle collective called the Rusty Spoke. We provide free access to the tools needed to build and maintain bicycles as well as instruction on how to do repairs. There's also a program we run for people without money to work in exchange for a bike. I've been involved for a few years and it's been a pretty cool project.

Hi guys im very much interested in social work ..here in my town ,v have started providing funds to orphanage GOS society nd starting to land more projects !

 

I live in South Africa. My family and I take food packages out to homeless people. I've been lucky, but there's a lot of people who live in nearby townships, as they're called here, who have not been as lucky. So, we go out and distribute food packages to them, pies, fruit, chicken, nutritious stuff.

 

You wouldn't believe how many people are suckered into thinking they are helping some homeless kids or poor folks by sending financial support to "charities" that do nothing but rob people of their money. I can't stand when people do dishonest things under the pretense of some noble cause. We really, really need to be choosy who we're helping.
