yes, there are people that buy on ebay. and they'll buy alsorts of crap.
I used to do a lot of work repairing PC systems, and managed to amass quiet a few processors (with working status not even 50% sure). I put 10 of them on ebay - pointing out that they probably didn't work or at best would be unreliable. They sold for over £200 GBP.
Selling successfully on ebay is no different to any other endeavour - you need to know what you're doing.
I still put the odd thing on there when I'm cleaning out the office.

I make a good portion of my living selling on ebay :). Check out my eBay Store!

And, of course, I shop on eBay too. Here are the last 3 things I bought from eBay:

Cute Polka Dot Bikini - I'm going to the Virgin Islands on Monday, and I couldn't find anything cute in the local stores.
"Hide Your Assets and Disappear" (a book) - Um...hmmm. How should I explain this one ;)
Laptop Battery - Who would of thunk it...laptop batteries go bad!

One thing that does annoy me with ebay sellers is those that won't ship overseas.
Why not ?? I simply can't understand it.
I'll ship anything anywhere, so long as the buyer pays for shipping.

I totally agree. A good portion of my business is within the UK! People that won't sell overseas are missing out, but I'll happily take up the slack ;).

My wife and I use it loads, and my brother also.

With regard to the type of crap they sell i found Tesco carrier bags selling for £1.20

If your not from the uk - Tesco is a supermarket and they give you bags for free!!

I tried recently to buy original video games for the PS2, but in Italy where I am now they go for ridiculous prices, almost as much as new ones in the shops considering the extra costs, in the UK they would be cheaper but it's hard to find someone that ships abroad and my trips to England are too short in this period, and US ones are NTSC, although they do ship abroad (again, in the UK, why not ship overseas?)
    So I gave up.
Still, it's a place where I am going back, maybe not for videogames, but there's so much @ ebay that I'll keep it on mind!

I buy all the time but rarely sell. I just can't take the hassle of it sometimes. You do have to do your homework when buying as there are plenty of scams and underperformers.

I sell 50-100 items a day on ebay. It now pays more than my normal (daily) job.
I love ebay. I hate that they raised the rates. I love that other people hate that they raised the rates (this can be seen by the fact that the stock dropped like a rock).

I use ebay to drive traffic to my site. I use dps to drive traffic to my site as well (although not for the last 2 weeks since I can't get ASP validation).

I have yet to find anything worthwhile for me to sell online, especially given the increase in listing rates, etc. It would be fun though!

I don't sell stuff too often, I never really 'got the bug' to sell - mostly just buy and set other people up with auction templates etc. - it gives me a creative outlet, and makes me feel like I'm helping out somebody.

Its amazing what a custom ebay auction template will do for your listing views, per auction income, and store inventory promotion. (one clients experiance) Seriously - not just a plug

I never thought much of Ebay until I started seeing the 'Real Business' aspect of it. - I'm sure individual small-time users have suffered from the SERIOUS sellers collecting more and more 'market share', but it is a viable market - for some Ebay is more profitable than their B&M stores.

I do recommend you get a FREE ebay account or start an Ebay store.

Stores are FREE for 30 days, but after that only cost $15 month - for most Ebay sellers I encourage the use of an Ebay store since it costs much less to list your items. If you have a medium to large inventory this is PERFECT - you can seed the Ebay listings with regular auctions - like 'doorway pages' to your Ebay store - just make sure your listing has a clear invitation to your store via a highly visable link.

Anyways off my Ebay soap-box - heh

I go through selling phases, every once in a while I'll have a clear out of DVDs, books and what ever else I can find. Do like the DVD selling pictures being provided for you, that saved me loads of camera time.
