I have a useless B.S. (perfect initials for it, too!) but I wish I had spent more time doing the geek thing and studied computers while I was on campus. Alas, alas...

Same here, I'll have to go back to school and continue my Computer Science career to Improve my favorite programming languages. :)

I am not satisfied with my skills after I've finished my college days. :)

    really...goodluck and pursue ur plan.

as for me, after finishing high school, i have no idea what course i am going to take up until one day ive realized that the internet world needs me - LoL :D
(man it took me years to decide...now im aging here :D :D

but the theater and arts is my long time dream....it need my time and effort but with my job at the moment..i have no time for universities...so while waiting for the oppotune moment....i just go for workshops and different stageplays for experience and extra credits w/c i will be using in the near future.

You kids who got computer degrees and then actually went into computer-related careers, you make me sick. You're so... organized!! :)

But without college, I wouldn't be so knowledgable about important facts and figures, like the exact amount of Diet Coke one must drink in order to stay awake for 42-hour paper-writing marathons. (Answer: 2.8 liters.)

I'm only finished my secondary school at 17 years old (1988). I've personally studying computer by myself at age 15 by reading books. After that I work with MNC company (Matsushita) starting as a production operator, after a while there, i've design a small industrial robot known as Warehouse Auto Transporter. After i finished it, i step the junior technician level there. About 2 years later, i've been promoted to be Junior Robotic Engineer.

Then, i left Matsushita to join Reka Professional Corp (an animation company) as a assistant system manager. I've pick-up computer skill mostly there and after a while I quit and joining a small startup IT company known as Advanced Business Technology LLC as a system manager in 1994.

I've advancing my skill specialised in Security and Forensics in a small company (Advanced Research Technology) in end of 1995. From there, I didn't look back until i received my CISSP in early 1999.

Now, I work as a Freelance Computer Security and Forensics and make enough income. By the way... I didn't have any computer training, diploma or degree at all. It's all based on my 17 years of personal experiance.

B.A. in English — it helps with the writing side of website design.
MBA — helpful in many general ways in this business-oriented world.
Ph.D. from seminary — helpful in my fulltime job, which is pastoring a church.

BE Mechanical Engineering here. Used it for 4 years in the automotive industry before devoting 100% of my time to web development. :)

Most people think it's a waste having done Mech Eng then ending up in IT/Business, but the mind set and problem solving skills developed at uni prove to be very useful in any field..

Ummm you wouldn't want to read that out of context :D

With regards to the thread, I dropped out of two different universities. I figured instead of hoping to get a well paying job at the end of it, trying to climb the corporate ladder and the rest of it, why not just start getting serious about doing my own online thing straight away and start earning more then most uni graduates in 5-10 years time anyway doing something that's really satisfying.
