    'They' told you that social media marketing is an awesome way to drive a boatload of free targeted traffic to your websites in record speed...

    You have now spent weeks adding a huge list of potential buyers to your friends on Myspace, Facebook and Twitter. You're telling all your friends about your wonderful products. But why haven't YOU gotten the massive boost in website traffic that 'they' are getting. And why haven't your friends become your buyers?

    Why?

    You need to realize this simple critical fact - Social networking sites are for SOCIALIZING! (Really?)

    The millions of users who sign up to participate in these social networking sites DO NOT join with the intention to buy anything. They don't expect to be sold to, and they don't like people trying to sell them products. They're just there to meet new, interesting people, make some friends and have some fun.

    So how in the world are you ever going to sell to them then?

    Get this; people don't buy from businesses and corporations (Shock Horror)!

    People buy from PEOPLE!

You need to take a more SUBTLE and HUMAN approach when marketing on these sites. You need to be yourself. So tell people who you are, build that connection, and build trust. Get people to like you, and THEN they will buy from you.
