I average about $1-2K on pure crap! :p

I usually buy fun things like the air hockey table and this weights thing (that I've used twice since getting it last month).

Other than that I don't really rack up too much on the cards. And luckily, neither does me bird.

You should really try paying it off in LARGE amounts.- IMO

I bought an elliptical walker thing last year. I used it like 8 or 10 times. Now it just sits in the other room gathering dust. Its just soooo boring to work out. Gyms are better, cuz there are girls in thongs everywhere, but then you never go because...well, because. :)

I want to get a punching bag or one of those beat up guys in the previous post, but same thing..I know I'll never use it.

That's my problem...I have a gym membership and now a weight bench...and I never use them. I also have a nice rubber track near my house that I could run on...yeah, and I don't use that either.

Just do not buy a cloth bag!

15k in debt, I could only wish. More like about 30K for me.

partially my fault, partially unfortunate circumstances. We recently sit down, put together a budget and made a plan to pay it off as quickly as possible.

Two weeks ago, lost job. I swear, there is a bad luck monster following me around lately. :)

    I've got the same monster...:p

I myself never keep a credit card bill, I've got excellent interest rates for them but running a balance still kills you. I'm like CR and others, 10-20k a month and pay it all off immediately, best way to do it.

Hint though, get enough bonus type cards and you can make some pretty good cash by spending money...:D It's not a ton, enough for a fun weekend...

That used to be my philosophy. My problem arose once we had a very nice house, and a couple very nice vehicles, ATV's, and who knows what else.

Next thing you know, my work was slowing down, and my wife tempoarily lost her eyesight shortly after being diagnosed with diabetes. Quick rolling snowball from there, and I have refused to file bankruptcy, its just not something I want to do.

I think we have successfully hit bottom though, so its only up from here :)

The one thing I've learned about life is a lot of people with a lot of nice things tend to be slaves to the things that they own.

I don't have a house, or ATVs. But I owe no one anything, and for that I consider myself to be rich. Every dollar I make is my own.

People have the same problems at any income level. Well, money does alleviate certain problems, but rich people aren't necessarily any happier than poor ones. Being a slave to the objects you own isn't just a problem for middle class suburbanites either.

I don't want to ruin the game for anyone else here, but to me the key to happiness is this:
Love, Family, Children, and a regular sense of accomplishment.

That and you have to realize that happiness does not mean being happy all the time. That's the frequent use of an illegal substance.
