Do you rank for your own name?

Not your business name, your personal name.

I have never really tried, but every time I search for mine, the first 3 pages come up with results about Michael Eisner from Disney.

How much emphasis do you guys place on ranking for your own name?

    None.

I'm number two (google) for my name. And that's only because I used my name once on a PRWeb release.

Since my name is pretty unusual I rank no 1 for my name. No problem.
And I am glad that it's a newspaper article about me being a top student :) heheh

There is a hall of fame football player with the same name. Makes me invisible.

If I use my middle initial, the way I normally do, then yes. Either with or without the period. Has something to do with a domain I have with my name as well. :)

My blog ranks #1 and a front page news article about me ranks #5.

Interesting. I used to have ranking problems with those kind of queries, but they are pretty much all cleared up now. PRWeb ranks first for my name, but it's my release.

I rank at the top with my name and my initials. Also found my uncle's name there too. I have a pretty unique surname, but Google keeps on thinking it's two words (it's double barrelled, so G ignores the hyphen)

That first result is actually me! I did that back then when I was in that Photoshop class.

I'm so unique! Go Yian, go Yian...

Oh, then the second result... it's me again! My stupid website. Hahaha. So funny.

The third one is me... again! Join Team ATF and decode the protein sequence with Folding@Home program!

And the rest are all bogus. They have a Yen in their name and they are squeeze themsekves onto the list. What a shame.

OMG! I died in an airplane crash in Singapore! I'm on the passengers list!

I've actually been quoted in quite a few articles and press releases so I have no problem ranking for my name. Since I do business consulting I've had prospects do searches for my name. Thank god everything that shows up is business related. A lot of time my clients don't even call references, they just want some way to double check my experience.

I'm in even in the top three for just my first name, but it's a somewhat unique spelling so that wasn't hard.

Even though my name not all that uncommon (It isn't Smith though), I have about the first 10 pages.

I write a ton of articles and do a lot of Press Releases though.

I also have a couple of interviews with Magazines

    Nope....

I tend to keep my real name away from the internet.

SEbasic suits me just fine :)
