do you wash yours?

a guy came to my house doing a marketing survey on a laptop.
    one of the questions was

"when cooking chicken, do you make sure you always wash it"

to which I sheepishly replied "I do when I remember"
(knowing full well that I'm a bit lazy in the chicken washing department)

then to my surprise, he showed me some stuff from the government food agency,
saying that you should not wash chicken prior to cooking it!

is that against everything you were ever taught?

do you wash yours? I thought everyone did.

Allways washing. There is special oily cream on chicken skin that make people who eat it to obey government, so I have written on fridge note: Wash chicken - be free.

Reading the subject, I'm surprised the thread is about chicken :p

I never wash my chicken, that's what cooking is for, right?

To tie it together, I think its good sense, that after choking your chicken, you should wash before handling your chicken to cook or prepare it :p

How did 'chicken' get synonymous with chicken? I wonder. Or some of the other euphamisms.

Long, long ago when ancient English chicken herders roamed the English country side a man name Charles the 9th, after being away from his wife for 9 days, decided to 'DO' a chicken and was spotted by 9 other English chicken herders who from a distance thought he was choking the chicken. They raced to rescue the bird but as they neared they all dropped dead from shock, all that is, but 1. Charles the 9th was forever banished from chicken herding again, but gave birth to the saying we know and love: "choking the chicken".

Yes I always wash my chicken prior to cooking it. I do it for a couple of different reasons. One I normally trim any fat on it and two sometimes there is blood on the chicken.

The reason why some people say you shouldn't is because

I come from a science background so I have very strict "lablike" procedures for a lot of things. I, also, at least once a month say something like this "Be careful or you'll cross contaminate the jelly" when my girlfriend is making a couple of different peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and puts the 2 different jelly knives down close to each other.

When it comes to everything else other then food and a couple of other odd things, I'm a dirty slob.

Wow I had no idea I was so passionate about washing chicken.

Also, SM that’s a bizarre thing to just let some random door to door survey guy ask you chicken questions.

I used to have a Jehovah's Witness that would come by my house and I’d let him in just to debate him on certain items. It wasn’t like I really cared about the issues I just wanted to have him defend stuff like no celebrations of birthdays and stuff like that.
