Does Affiliate Links Affect SEO ?

If I have a site, lets say xyz.com, and I want to have a lot of links back from other sites so I can improve my search engine rankings, does linking with an affiliate url affect it?

For example, let's say that xyz.com company uses Commission Junction and has 1,000 affiliates. These affiliates have a link as (for example) www.jfrds.com/whatever which then takes them to xyz.com.

Do the search engines still recognize the link as xyz.com (thereby giving it credit) or do they stop and see it as jfrds.com ?

    Thanks!

Yes they do give credit to xyz.com even if they pass their affiliate ID to your site. If they use some sort of redirection then it depends on the type of redirect they are using to redirect to xyz.com. If its a 301 redirect then they definitely give you credit by passing PR.

What about affiliate links with Amazon... (didn't mean to steal the thread)
