Does anybody run a social bookmarking or news site?

A lot of the discussion on DP pertains to portals, e-commerce sites, MFA sites, and blogs. I haven't seen much discussion of social bookmarking/news or networking sites.

Does anyone out there run these types of sites? Anyone interested in discussing the best strategies for generating traffic and revenue?

Big thing with these sites is just getting all the content indexed. A lot of the time, the 'long tail' of searches comes into play, so traffic will always be climbing, as long as the unique content and indexing continues to happen.

If you go for a specific type of social/news site, you could advertise on other 'like' verticals to draw in traffic.

As always, it depends too if you're compfortable with wearing different "hats" to build traffic. I never think of them as "hats" but more of risks or what works/doesn't work.
