Does Being a Business Owner Help for the Future?

I'm 20 years old with my own web design business. Let's say for example in 5,10,20 years web design is no longer around or I want out, will there be other great opportunities out there for me? I'm a hard worker and I love working with others, this is just something that crossed my mind today.

Depends on what skills you have. The more skills you have the more versatile you are. Do you have other skills besides web design?

I think there is something to be said of the skills which are required to actually build and run a business. The ability and drive to analyze the market, make the right marketing/advertising moves/etc are all good skills to have. If web design is no longer a valid area of work in several years, the business running skills will help with whatever other for of widgetmaking business you decide to start.

In think you will have no problems finding something new to work with in the future.

Your are young, and you now run your own business, that probably means that you are a quite creative man, and if you set up goals and have dreams there is nothing that can stop you. NEVER give up, its as easy as that.
You will most definately come up with new businessideas that might be more on going in the future, a long the way.

    Good Luck!

As you get older, employers care less about education and more about experience. They also tend to make decisions more based on an interview rather then a resume.

Running a business and not working for someone else won't neccesarily hurt you but I would suggest also taking classes in your spare time. Specialized ones will not only help your business but will also help the balance a bit if you ever have to apply for a job working for someone else.
