Does social media sites help to the website to improve Keyword ranking?

Summary - there is a correlation, but not proof of causation. It's the story of SEO all over again, as no one knows what happens inside that Google box.

If you run a smart social media campaign, you get more, more loyal customers. So any ranking gains are a bonus.

 

Of course, social signal has been included in the 200+ signals use to rank, just how much the impact would be? no body knows
You'd get better result if you use social network to engage the audience and get the traffic that way rather than to boost your SERP.

The site can get links for facebook or other social media sites. But I am confused that links can affect the ranking of keywords.

It seems to me that it has not increase any key word ranking for me. Rather these are for attracting direct traffic. But sorry to say, still found no specific answer of this question.
