Does Google Cache old sitemap files.

    Hi All,

    just logged in to google sitemaps and noticed some 404 errors that google is reporting. Its showing old urls that i have taken down a couple of months ago and have not listed the url in the sitemap.xml file for at least 2 months.
    I have updated the sitemap.xml file at least 10 times during that time.

    What i don't get it is why google is saying that the URL is in the sitemap when it is not. Does anyone know if google keeps the sitemap.xml files cached?

    I am having the same problems, and its very frustrating. It listed 12 url not found, i was able to use the url remover to have them taken out, and as soon as they were gone 4 older ones showed up.
