Does marketing on Myspace work?

I heard from some people that myspace is a good place to sell products. Aparently ads will rank high in the serps because of the domain authority. Anyone tried this?

Haven't tried selling any products yet but I do get some traffic just from friends clicking the link to my website in my profile (not going to change anything until i get a few thousand friends, then i'll strat comments, etc.) And no, I'm not adding them manually :)

Depends if you find the right traffic, or target. But you see, myspace is already flooded with spam. So try posting a good article instead using the Bulletin and take it from there..

Yeah, a couple of them tried it. They made $10,000 a month.

    Or was it $12???

    I'm confused.

If you have the right product for that crowd, it most definitely works!

i didn't get too far with myspace. I created 6 different accounts and had around 2000 to 3000 friends in each. But the niche I picked is kind of on the high end - it really wasn't something the average age myspace user would be intrested in.

for me it was a waste of time - I do still have the accounts - but they are just sitting there

Is this market still alive? It's been dying for the past few months now.

I suppose it could work for things such as bands, page rank, forget about that because they added a nofollow to their pages.

If a guy was making $4,000 a week and then says it's now a pain in the ass, what more is there to say!

Myspace Advertising is foolish these days. Sending out Bulletins doesn't work the way it once did since if your sending bulletins to 10,000 people likely 85% of those accounts are either Fake Spam accounts, or currently inactive, I have heard good things about Facebook. Don't waste your time with Myspace thats my honest advice, also with the new security features your Bulletins and other ads will be removed shortly after you do it completely defeating the purpose.

It works if you know who you're marketing to. Products to help teenagers with their cell phones - and/or pushing ringtones would probably make you the most.

If you fit a certain niche market then you're all set! We were able to reach a couple thousand people in a few months from the swampdonky.com website we did...

Oh, ok. I use SEO for Firefox and it wasn't highlighting any nofollows on myspace, so I was confused.
