Drupal VS WordPress VS Joomla

What's the difference between Drupal, wordpress, and joomla. It seems like wordpress is good for simply blogs, joomla works well for general content organization (for more advanced sites, perhaps). What is Drupal's specialty? Does it do just about everything it's brothers do?

 

i mostly use wordpress and joomla, but people tell me that drupal has really good addons for SEO

 

I use wordpress

 

Word-press is great. It's easy to use, intuitive, and very flexible. That said, it's more of a blogging engine then a true CMS.joomla is back end user friendly but word-press is not user friendly.we can customize all the things in joomla.like functionality , templates etc,,Drupal is a great option if you have some familiarity working with CMS systems, and don't mind a more difficult learning curve
In drupal its mostly Ajax and j query functionality included

we can get many features in both joomla and drupal. For an example Drupal is much more flexible when it comes to the development and setting up the theme and layout of the website. Joomla! is known to be surrounded by the paradigms set by itself, and offers less scope to be flexible.

There are dozens upon dozens of differences, but honestly it all boils down to this..

-Wordpress is by far the easiest to use, easiest to make look good, upgrade, etc, but also the least powerful. Wordpress also has some of the best, easy to use and install plugins.

-Joomla is in the middle, can be extended to do lots of stuff, and still has a fairly intuitive system once you wrap your head around menus. Joomla is also the most commercial. Most good plugins will cost you money.

-Drupal is the most developer oriented. It is very powerful if you're a programmer. If you're just a regular user looking for an easy interface then pass. Upgrading is a terrible pain, plugins are poorly documented, hard to find, and poorly maintained. It also has the highest learning curve of the three.

It depends on your website, but if wordpress can do what you're looking to do with your website then it is the easy choice. It has the best built-in SEO, is the easiest to configure, has the most themes available, is the easiest to maintain, etc etc.

 

Joomla and drupal is the best.........

 

Hands down Wordpress is the easiest option to get started with and offers a lot of functionality - I'd start there depending on your needs.

 

Joomla paid modules can get you going nutz, have seen great dynamic themes build for joomla.

Wordpress is the most easy one for the less experienced user and for very simple websites.

Drupal has no limits if you are aware of php and css, even without programming knowledge you can build great sites.

 

You call three great open source CMS. And each has set of own benefits.

Wordpress was a tons of templates. And it is easy.
Joomla has large market of modules.
Drupal is more than CMS. It is CMF. If you need unique functionality than estimate it.

 

What are some of the things you can do with Drupal that make people like it? If you already have a website and a wordpress site, what can Drupal bring to the table that is different and unique?

 

One of the things that has made Drupal my choice over Wordpress a few times is the ability to create custom content types. Being able to do that and then use and manipulate them in many different ways is so powerful. Another very powerful function in Drupal is Views - extract parts of content from one part of a site and then manipulate and display it in another way on another part of the site, a pain and very limited in WP but a snap with Views in Drupal.

I use wordpress for blogs, joomla for basic sites and drupal for more complex sites

 

I use Drupal. I agree it's not easy to learn and if you need just a simple blog then go with WP. But if you are building a real website Drupal is the best! It's also great from the security standpoint.

 

Quality of Wordpress:-

Simple to use - No need for modifications
Excellent for blogging or sharing thoughts in a sequential manner
Even the most elderly of users can get the hang of it quickly

Disquality of wordpress:-

Not developer friendly
The community seems to like to complain

Drupal's Quality:-

Extremely developer friendly. If I loved code more I would almost always pick this system.
Strong community to help discern the dozens (hundreds) of functions and tags available.
Can be used to create some really awesome websites that can outperform a majority of other sites out there.

Disquality of Drupal :-

Not very designer and user-friendly. It's hard for someone with little code knowledge to make the leaps required to do the very cool things that Drupal is becoming known for.
Theming of Drupal has been a huge case of fail (until recently). Probably because it has been developers, not designers, that are making the themes.

Friendly for all types of users - Designers, Developers and Administrators
Huge community is awesome for assisting with creation of websites
Has been rapidly growing and improving itself for the past three years

Disquality of Joomla:-

Still not user-friendly enough for everyone to understand
Not quite as powerful as Drupal, and can be a bit confusing for some to jump into

+ It's out of the box 'ready'
+ Lots of free 'premium' themes
+ Easy to install
+ Performance
- It's designed for blogs (and basic websites).
- Documentation for the beginners is okay but advanced users?

Drupal
+ You can customize (almost) everything
+ SEO
+ You can personalize everything
+ Easy to theme
+ Content control
- Community (Must say it's improving a lot. New users may experience otherwise.)
- Learning curve
- UI for some people a problem (Fixed in the new version 7)

Joomla
+ Backend is nice (not great and 1.6 isn't improving it)
+ Community
- Not SEO friendly, must do a lot of tuning to get it done.
- Ugly code
- Many free themes (low quality)
- The good stuff cost money

Wordpress is used by many high traffic blogs (celebrities, magazines etc) , Drupal by large companies and goverments (Sony, the Whitehouse etc.) but who uses Joomla?
