    Want to share what happened?

Personally I never spend over £50 on eBay and its not because I am tight arsed. I just dont trust its members or the come back when something goes wrong.

I won a auction for a dell computer right, this time last year the dimension 9100. Thought wot a bargain, neway, they sent me the little thing saying what address to post it to, wot payment etc.

So i wanted this computer asap and decided to get a bank cheque (one that doesn't need to clear) and send it to them that day. 1st class royal mail would have delivered within a day right so emailed the bloke sayin that he should have received it.

He replied after like a day that he hadnt actually got it yet which i thought was ****.

Meanwhile, that day i received an email that day for ebay sayin "if any seller tries to contact you outside of ebay to complete a deal then dont because its indicative of fraud" etc. I thought this email was a broad thing they send out to every1 just to cover their backsides, because after all a deal that is completed outside of ebay is one they wont get comission for.

any how i replied to ebay and asked if this was specific to me or just a general email, and if i had actually been defrauded etc.

ebay didnt reply until 4 days later by then it was far too late, my money had gone for good and there was no way of me getting it back! I wen to the bank to see what they could do and they said that the cheque i had sent had been cashed the day after i had sent it.

By this time had emailed the seller about 30 times with abuse and that if i dint get my computer id send the boys round lol etc.

Since then my old man sent out someone to find the ******, cuz my dad mates wit some gangster dude. we found him n i kicked the shit out of him, my dads mates destroyed his house. which is enough retribution for me.

Now im a marketer in london and its all good. just thought id warn ya bout ebay because they didnt give me f*** all help which was very upsettin.

    Done lol

its like anything, you have to be safe and take care with who you deal with. I have about 150 auctions in the last 6 years, only been taken on 2, which I should have been more careful with. Used my CC so I was protected.

ebay is a mutha f****! i use to use ebay a lot had around 106 feedback all 100%. I sold stuff on ebay like stamps or stuff i didn't need. I earnt some money then thought of buying a Louis Vuitton bastille bag, thought i grabbed it for a bargain but when i received it, i knew it was fake coz it was differnt color to my other bags then i report the seller to ebay, took them 2 weeks to reply(during the 2 weeks i emaield them 7 times). They said they would follow it up. Next few days found my account was banned, i was like wtf...they suspend me for shill bidding which i never did. At tht point i ddin't care all i wanted was my 700usd back but they said "we are sorry but your item you purchase is no longer proctected due to your suspended account. After that i never used ebay, they are all bull S@@! only care about money

I have bought a few things including a Van. The van wasn't quite as nice as I thought but with such a low buy-it-now I was willing to accept the risk.

I always check the sellers previous transactions to see how they handle a problem and use a C.C. so I can do a charge back if something happens.

I've always had positive experiences with Ebay -- never been taken once. Using Ebay is the same as purchasing anything online. You have to be careful about who you deal with. Their seller feedback, while possibly not a clear cut indication of their reputation, can still serve as a way to guage reputable sellers from shady scammers.

I appreciate that you have had good experiences with ebay and I cant deny that but for some reason Im cursed. I just think that its a risky game you play although the "buy it now" items are low risk.

However, with most online purchases, you know who you're dealing with, i mean you're not exactly going to buy from a company with a lame website that could have been knocked up in about 5 minutes are you.

Whereas the annonymity of the sellers, regardless of their rating, as amedno1 experienced! Plus i think that even selling on ebay is a joke, they charge you so much, and still charge you if you dont manage to sell an item.

I mite setup an auction where if you dont manage to sell something, then you dont get charged in any way! I tried to sell a car sound system on ebay, i put the price low (as they recommended) it had a few bids, but never met the reserve, which happened to be less than a third of what it was actually worth.
    :p :p :p

    no, where not in agreement.
had a few problems with eBay, but for the most part it's been all good.
you just can't stop using eBay because of a scam artist seller, use some common sense, check feedback inside and out, up and down, email past buyers.
eBay is such a big part of the web, by boycotting them you would depriving yourself.

Its understandable to encounter a problem with a huge website like ebay every once and a while, the best way to make sure you don't run into issues like that again if you decide to use Ebay is by paying with a credit card. Credit card companies are really good at helping you out if you have a charge you want to dispute. Ive had to do that a couple of times and always got my money back for items I never received (though I've never had a problem with ebay)
