eBay Pulse? What Happened?

Anyone know what happened to eBay Pulse where you can see the top trends and best selling products and stuff? Any alternative solution towards that?

eBay quietly dropped their long-time popular Pulse tool/pages back in October. They probably just didn't want to continue maintaining it, as there have been lots of internal/database/search changes going on at eBay lately.

We recently launched a free replacement for Pulse, doing just what Pulse did, and with a few extra bells n' whistles Pulse never had. Find it at: http://WatchCount.com/keywords/

We also show how many watchers there are on top-watched eBay items, and currently support wildcard searches on our homepage, a feature eBay also dropped a few months ago.

(I apologize for the self-promo here, and hope I haven't slighted anyone, but our free replacement tool suite is a drop-in replacement/improvement for eBay Pulse that happens to exactly answwer the OP's question...)

    Nice. How'd you develop that.

Is it just a hook into the eBay API?

How often is the content updated?

Thanks, and we're glad you find our site's free tool helpful.

Yes, it's based on data acquired directly from eBay's API platform. eBay has told us that the internal database our API calls access updates every few weeks, depending on which category.

eBay got rid of it, because it didn't go with their 'new direction'.

However, the watchcount tool previously posted in this thread isn't the best tool for what pulse provided.

The better tool - that is more like what eBay pulse DID provide (which was high searched for terms per categories) is the Catman tool found in the eBay research labs.

    It's found here: http://labs.ebay.com/Catman/

Additionally, the tool is more superior to pulse in that it shows up to the top 100 searched for terms per category instead of the top 10.

    Enjoy!

The Catman tool is a handy tool, but it's arguable whether it's really "better" than Pulse and our Most Searched tool.

The Catman tool does indeed offer some advantages over our tool (and the former eBay Pulse tools). It seems to show popular terms with an acuity down to the day, whereas our tool averages over a few weeks (seemingly like Pulse did). Catman also has a few other bells and whistles like top sellers and trends - stuff we don't have.

But our tool has a few advantages over Catman:

    * With our tool, you can also enter a keyword phrase and see similar search terms (with Catman, you can only select sub/categories).

    * Catman only does eBay US, but we can handle most other eBay international sites, such as UK and Germany.

    * With Catman, you can't bookmark search results, like top phrases in your favorite niche subcategory, to check up on from time to time. You can with ours.

    * Our tool makes it easy to see Most Watched items as well, something Pulse did. Can't do that with Catman.

Pulse only showed the top-10 keywords per category. Our tool, as well as Catman, shows up to 100.

So, in summary, it depends what you're seeking and what your needs are, which tool is "better". Having both Catman and our Most Searched tool in your toolbox can help with keyword selection.
