Enter discount code before shopping

Hi all,

Looking for some opinions on this: in most web shops, you can enter a discount code at checkout.

Wouldn't it be good to offer the additional opportunity to enter a discount code even before putting items in your basket? You could then show regular and discounted prices, already in the webshop. Wouldn't this ease the purchasing decision for people with discount codes?

However, I don't know any web shops who do this. Does anyone know any reason why not?

 

Yeah at most of the websites coupon code is presented at the checkout but before reaching the checkout customer is in knowledge that how much he/she is going to save.
If I see your idea as a customer I'll surely be reluctant, at least at start. Well if you try any such thing do share with all of us the results.

When entering a coupon code at the checkout, a customer can see an actual change of the price and this is the most importanat thing about couponds. Entering a code before checkout is pointless.

 

Yes, Entering coupon code before checkout will make life easy for customer and also it may change the mind. I am agree to use it before checkout, also checkout in most cases is login/register protected so showing coupon before checkout will let the user know that there is some discount available.
