Ergonomic Chairs. What do YOU have?

    Hi folks,
My back is starting to kill me and I am wondering if it's because of the way I am sitting in my current chair. I have one of those $99 "executive" leather chairs that just plain suck and I've been too lazy to go get a better one. So, with that said, can anyone recommend me a good ergonomic office chair to use? Are the legendary Aeron chairs really that good? Their price tags are crazy ($699!). I need help selecting chairs..what should I look for?

I found this website and was wondering if those prices are good. They also have user reviews.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Try Greg's ergonomic computer chair. Greg (Kneelsit) is a long-time member of IHY (that's how I know him) and has several patents on his design.

I have one (kneeler chair) at home and one in the office. When at work for extended hours I swap chairs every few hours.

If you're in the UK I can drop a link to our online shop where we sell posture chairs.

My adivice: Get one with thick padding. You can pick up a chair for dirt cheap but your ass will hurt like hell after a couple of hours. Pay twice the price for a few cm more padding and you will be a happy punter for years...

    Good chairs are expensive, yes.
But buy, borrow or steal one. You'll never want to go back to anyone chair.
My office chair was about £500 (retail) (around $900). I got it about 4 years ago in a sale for £200.
It has more adjustments than almost anyother chair I've seen. Has about 15 cm of padding all over the chair.
I can sit in it for 5 hours + without having any aches. I often spend in excess of 12 hours a day in that chair.
    Well worth the cost.

My priority is value for money, therefore I use antique chairs, british ones.
They are not necessarily uncomfortable, it depends on how they have been upholstered, so if you know a good upholsterer, don't rule out buying a piece of antique furniture, especially if you are in Britain!

The chair means everything, definitely. Can't stress that enough.

I paid £600 for my home office chair back in 1993 - no typos guys, we're talking back in the old, old days when all you could really find on the internet was .com's and not much else :)

It's still going strong and I love it :D

chairs...? You guys have chairs!! I sit on plastic delivery crates, with strips of cardboard for padding.

(if you look carfully you can see the "bottled by the good guys at Kalil" impression on my rear end.......IF you look carefully....don't look carefully....just trust me)
