Everything I know about Tumblr

Hi Guys I am new to this forum and I just realized I have to make posts that people will like in order to become a premium member.

So I am going to share everything I know about Tumblr.
First of Tumblr's demograph is mainly younger people so if what your promoting is aimed at an older audience you may struggle a bit.

I have noticed a lot of seo value from having links on Tumblr, There is a lot of conflicting information about weather the links on tumblr are nofollow and considering tumblr is a cross between a web 2.0 property and a social media site it is hard to say.

Setting Up your Blog.

Tumblr blogs sometimes rank highly in serps so choosing a keyword rich username can be beneficial. Basically what I mean is your username will become a sub domain of tumblr and will be the domain name for your blog eg. usernam.tumblr.com (keyword.tumblr.com) or you can buy your own domain and have tumblr host it for you for free

1. Make a real looking profile- use a real photo of someone for your profile pic and write something that describes your blog and choose a different theme (don't just use the default one)

2. To Begin just reblog at least 30 high quality posts (upload your own content when you get more followers)

Gaining followers
1. Follow 200 people a day in your niche or closely related, you are allowed to follow 200 people a day and a maximum of 5000 people

2. when you see a popular post that heaps of people have commented on write a good comment your self- if it's popular it should get plenty more shares and when you comment on the post your username will link back to your blog.

3. everyday like posts in your niche- when you like a post your username will appear on the post with a little follow icon next to it, it just makes it so much easier for people to follow you and find you

4. go to tumblrplug dot com and submit your blog there (it's free)

5. on the sidebar there is a recommended blog to follow feature, im not 100 percent sure on how to get your blog there but I have seen a lot of spammy blogs featured on there who were posting alot of posts everyday and not getting many shares. So Im guessing just being active on your blog can get you there- you don't necessarily have to have lots of followers or be posting viral posts all the time.

6. when you have followed 5000 people you can unfollow them (tedious process) and start following 200 people a day again, I outsource all of this. You will only need to do this 2 or 3 times because once you get a certain amount of followers you will gain more just be posting good content. This seems to apply to most social media sites.

7. Upload your own content or borrow other peoples, you can credit the source for image, do this once you have a decent amount of followers, I normally upload 5 of my own posts per day and share 10, you can put them in a queue so you don't take over anyones news feed.

Some more things to know

You can monetize your blog with google adsense just keep in mind that porn is allowed on tumblr but google won't let you place ads on a porn site so be careful what you post.
(my blog got banned from adsense because I had an image of a close up of a womens ass, she was not naked but google doesn't seem to allow even slightly raunchy pics)

You can use other advertising networks as well just don't try any affiliate marketing as it against tumblr's TOS.
