Experienced Magento Users

    I decided to open up an ecommerce store and found that there is a long slue of "to do" things I didn't realize upfront.

    I have Magento and a template I purchased installed correctly. I know everything about databases etc. however I don't know what to start with concerning the backend stuff of my website, such as:

    1. Configuring tax rates applying to correct sales tax upon the product and purchaser’s location
    2. Customizing the storefront to make it “my own” or “unique”
    3. Offering products for sale or using promotions and promotional codes
    4. managing customers accounts and configuring store contact options
    5. Configuring default payment options such as paypal or credit cards

    I was wondering if anyone out there knew if plugins/modules took care of all this?

    Or would it be easier for me to hire someone to do the things I don't know for right now because of the time consumption and learning curve? If so how much do you think is a reasonable price to set this all up? (I know how to upload products via .csv files and bulk upload images). So I wouldn't need product management day to day, only the basic set up.

    At a glance, everything you asked about is already onboard magento in the admin panel.

    I am an e-commerce guy and likely headed from the mountains to your neck of the woods(literally).

    I would be happy to swap some info with you. I am more than happy to help you find everything and or do it and then show you how and why I did what.

    Hey Nigel,

    Thanks for offering to help (I have literally been looking everywhere) and no one on the Magento forums are of any help really.

    My plans are to dabble into drop shipping using Doba and importing a datafeed/csv file (whatever you want to call it) with gold chains just to get my fingers wet and get used to managing payments and everything, and then I wanted to move onto selling something I'm going to be buying in bulk later on.

    Do you want me to message you some contact information (skype, an instant messenger)??

    Edit: Is there a step-by-step checklist I could look online to make sure I have everything up and working properly before my storefront goes live?
