everybody is talking about Facebook no privacy. But we can see that facebook do improve alot in their privacy compare to last time. Privacy is base on what you want to share with others. If you do not open to all then probably do not share it on facebook.
If you want share to certain friend only. Then facebook may help you but not in the sense of 100% stay private between you and your friend only.
    So you cannot blame others.

well, before u use smtg, you should learn to utilize what's inside. It is given to you, whether u use it or not. I believe that those that are consent over Privacy shud read up on the privacy statements before they sign up for any account.

You mean not literally right? Coz we all know FB has a privacy option. But if you mean your content not really private at all. Then I agree with you.

If you configure your privacy settings correctly, there is not much a stranger can see from you.

They ( Facebook ) only have as much information about you as you give them. If you are concerned about privacy, it is wise to delete the "middle man" in your social circles. Diaspora allows you to do that... and.... it is encrypted. :) Here they are on twitter : LINK

Well... it might be safe but as I have said, if you are the type of user who is ignorant about the matter then, you might be missing something especially about your privacy.

    Thanks for your opinions guys.

I believe Facebook has upped their privacy due to popular demand. Just be aware that your account information is always kept on file, even is you have stopped your account.

There is no privacy on Facebook, but why would do we expect any? It is a social media website that sells ads as its main source of revenue. Period. Just because people are attached to their Facebook profiles as if they are their pets, that doesn't change the nature of the website itself. Our FB profiles are not extensions of ourselves in any way that we have complete control over.

It used to be difficult to get good demographic data about a particular market. People were never as willing to take surveys as when it was presented in the form of social media recently. With Facbook, half of the planet has happily answered every question that a marketing company would want to know within every catagory there is. It is a goldmine of demographic data & all if it is for sale. Period. Extensive personal data that people willing share about themselves for free... that is why companies love it. And since these companies, not the users, pay Facebook, their interests are the ones being catered to.

Facebook is a tool. Use it as you will.
