Ok you may not have read my other thread, but a brief history I am trying to reach 1,000,000 daily visits to my site.

My site is still new and generates an average of 100 visitors daily.

I have been using twitter, i get the usual retweets etc probably adds 20 visitors daily


I started using facebook, I posted my post on a popular facebook fan page that already has 200000+ likes.

My own facebook fan page started receiving likes, I didn't expect this, the page gets no attention.

I woke up the next day thinking I will get around 400 new visits or so

To my surprise I checked my traffic stats and I was shocked to see 47,826 visits in one day and 180,000+ pageviews.


Apparently the post went viral on facebook and ppl started sharing. The traffic level is still 10000+.

To sum up facebook is king for traffic, I got more traffic in that single day than I did in the entire sites lifespan

I was just about to give up on my 1,000,000 a day goal, but now im the road to 1,000,000 and I got road rage

 

I like Facebook a lot as well.

Actually, I like both Facebook and Twitter, equally. Twitter seems to become more popular, but still has it's issues, while Facebook has a very solid foundation for marketers.

Posting on Facebook definitely drives traffic to a website. As long as the post is interesting and worth-sharing, people will just share the published post to others or networks of friends. The same also with Twitter. The thing about Twitter is how you compose your tweets about your post.

 

You're experience is inspiring! Social media like facebook and twitter are great funnel to drive more traffic to websites. That's why gathering more targeted fans and followers will bring more traffic. If you re just aware, there are many ways to get free followers.

 

Yup Its like releasing a hit record in the music biz, I get 2000+ visits daily, to think just a week ago I was stuck at 100 a day haha

 

Well done, facebook can generate lots of traffic if your content is good and attractive to the community out there.

 

I think twitter is best for traffic because twitter provide good relavent traffic

Yeah, I agree. Facebook brings real-human traffic. And it has company-claimed 1 Billion users already (not 100 million users).

 

I like the strategy of commenting on fanpages that have 200k+ likes. That's smart. Especially if you can get a top spot.

 

Twitter and Facebook is the best platform to get more traffic to website. If you have the strong network on these website then you have huge traffic for your website, when post a link of your website .

 

Facebook and twitter both are best for promotion you have a daily updated in your social account so this best and added a approved links, profile links, and added a friend's and followers so are you promote your website easy way...

Facebook and Twitter both social network sites play an important role to increase your site's traffic. But so far to me, Facebook is more effective among the general people. While Twitter is used by celebrities mostly.

It's not enough to have links on the social networking sites pointing towards your website though. You need to give people a reason to check out the website.

 

About 1500 have "stuck" so that one post that went viral increased my traffic by 1500% to this day I get 1000-2000 visits a day and new fb likes daily.

All I need to do is do it again and reach a wider audience this time, make the new visitors stick and get 5000 visits a day, then 50,000,500,000,1,000,000

 

According to my pint of view Facebook gives more traffic
