Facebook will replace Google and become the first Search Engine in future?

Facebook will replace Google and become the first Search Engine in future?

The answer is "possible". Recently, a professional analytic report of website traffic in US shows that Facebook has become the biggest website in USA. At the same time, facebook is also beginning to test its search function. It seems that Facebook woule like to develop its search engine on the basic of the huge users and traffic.

If Facebook will do that, it is possible to replace Google and become the first biggest Search engine in USA, even in the world. So many users like to use Facebook for business, communication, making friends, etc.

Facebook now is the superman for attracting so huge traffic. Do you think Facebook will replace Google and become the first Search engine in the USA or the World in future?

    I'm thinking of buying facesearch.com
If facebook starts its search engine then they can buy the domain from me from big bucks. :p

Not going to happen. FB is just not built to be a search engine - and never will be.

Could you imagine that you would need to log into your FB account before you can do some online research at work? Heck - even with 500M users there are way more people out there who are still not on FB and probably never will be...

Facebook is about keeping in touch with people and not about getting information. If I want to find "how to make money with amazon", searching on facebook can never help me. But Google can help me.

facebook has 500 million users, how many people there have more then 2 accounts?

It is quite possible. I think that facebook could replace google because they evolved very well in the past years, and i must say quite better than google.
They showed us what is the true meaning of a social network.

    <insert facepalm here>

Facbook is a social networking site, not a search engine. Facebook never will be a search engine, just like google.com will never be a social networking site.

When I go looking for information on a topic, there are 3 places I go - amazon, youtube and google. Facebook is not even on my list.

Yeah that's right Facebook is not a search engine it is a social networking site so why do you compare it to Google? Google is the pioneer search engine and the biggest.

OK, but I will also want to say that "Nothing is impossible in the future."

Maybe it will be the social networking search in the future, and it will change your life. Also, it will change our life as Google doing now. Nothing is impossible.

Social media is now hot, because it is comparatively new to humans. But,the craze will not last long.Maybe for another 5 to 10 years. What is the need to know other people's updates?People will eventually feel social media fatigue. So,future of facebook is not as bright as it seems now.Google search algorithm is advanced.Even if facebook starts their own search engine,it will take more than 5 year to compete with Google

As you said it is possible. Google is a giant, but empires fall over night. If FB plays their cards right, who knows.

At the paste Facebook is moving it is possible for it to become NO1 website, however I don't think it will replace a search engine such as google. Google is developed purely as a search engine and it has things such as spiders that crawl website etc. etc. I am not aware of facebook having this feature.

This prediction doesn't make any sense.

Just have a look at the whois info of facebook.com and ask yourself, how many years facebook has spent on its infrastructure build up.

Same applies to Google's search engine also. Google is not also sitting silently with their alogrithm, they are changing it often. So what Facebook may dream about Google of today will be just a pass story for Google in future or sooner.

Facebook won't be able to become a search engine like Google. :)

    Un-realistic comparison.

I think Google will keep the majority of the SE market share, but facebook ads will affect Google Adwords sponsors with more people putting a higher % of their budget into Facebook. This will then affect the Adsense affiliates.
