Fake Facebook Fans/Likers - Risks, Downsides?

Discussion in 'Social Networks' started by Mr.Dog, Sep 26, 2012.

    Hello,

I was wondering what risks there are if one receives fake Facebook fans?

I'm asking, because there are lots of companies offering to sell such SMM-related services (they promise to increase the number of "likes" etc.).

Can these "fans" mean any threat? Can they actually do harm in any way? Like harm the Facebook page, steal information, crack codes, bring viruses/spyware, feed with fake messages/posts or even harm SEO?

I am getting reports that these is indeed "like spam" and there are sites getting unwanted likes from either robots or people paid to spam the Facebook channels with advertisements and other texts...

Opinions? Experiences? I'd like to know ;)

The big risk is that the only purpose the serve is to make your page look more popular than it is.
If you bought 500 or 1000 fans from Fiverr for £5, its not too big a deal.
They're never going to benefit you in any other way though.
As per any form of marketing, Organic Growth is the only way you will see success.

It will hardly get any direct harm.
It's there to create the image of social proof for your real prospects.
The only way it will do the harm is if fans look very unnatural.

I don't have this issue, but I've known people who've complained, so I wanted to know if there's such a thing called "Facebook spam"... And if there is, then how to protect ourselves from this threat?

Only use site like fiverr or seoclerks, there is no chance of scam there.

Facebook recently started looking into pages that have 'fake likes' and taken the page down.

If there are many lik in any page in a few times then facebook will check the like real or not. If it is spam it has more possibility of being blocked.

Some sites offer like exchange where you like other pages and other users like your page.Technically it is not spam because likes come from real facebook users but the problem with this exchange is that after few days people start unliking your page which gives a bad impression

Like people have been saying, you do have a chance of having your page taken down by engaging in something like this.

Not my case, though... just wondering. Because a plethora of people are "buying" Facebook fans and I had a feeling there must be an associated SERPs-related risk.

bro, dont use fake likes as facebook are deleting all the fake like done by autolike sites..and if u r asking abt payed fb like sites many are fake and the likes they give wil be inactive ie no one will like ur pages post etc...so better do tagging with other admins.

as facebook likes are for facebook page and the purpose of these pages are to promote any particular brand or company to sell their products and tell their potential customer about the advantages, benefits, special offers, discount etc. If don't have real customer "likes" who are interested in your products then what a page will do with that likes?

You will not have problems with fake likes.. I know from my 2 year experience with customers.. The big reason customers are ordering my service is popularity !
After the ordered likes people see that the fan page is legit and they are liking it also.. So after the bought fake likes you will get some good amount of organic traffic..

You can be banned yes if you get 100.000 likes in 1 day.. That is why we are using differents methods delivering them.. Over 850 fan pages served.. Not a single fan page was banned using my service..

So if you work smart you won't have problems with facebook..

The only thing that I can see fake likes helping is to make your page look more popular than it really is. I personally look at the number of likes on a page when I do a search. That tells me that there is something interesting going on or a great discussion on the page. Hope that helps.
