    I like their support response time very much. I've had 3-4 tickets with them and all were answered the same day.

    I don't know if they shutdown websites in their unlimited pack because of resource overuse or not, but till now the experience has been good.
    You can also get your own dedicated server if money is not an issue. That way your host won't shutdown the website on resource overuse.

    There are a lot of hosting providers out there that could assist you better. Seek out a managed hosting provider that offers DDoS Protection inclusive with their offerings. Your biggest concern would be if you were to leave HostGator and go with another EIG owned provider.
